The 2012-2013 Champions League Awards have been announced with AC Milan duo Philippe Mexes and Christian Abbiati taking away some plaudits for their performances.
Surprisingly it was the defender who took away the best goal of the tournament where Abbiati on the other hand was recognized for his fine string of saves.
Mexes scored a memorable stunner against Anderlecht in the knockout stages in which the defender scored like a striker, first controlling the ball on his chest with his back to goal and then releasing a venomous overhead kick that flew into the far corner of the goal.
Abbiati’s stellar performance against Zenit St. Petersburg earned him the title for best saves as he dazzled spectators between the sticks with a myriad of incredible saves with the most notable coming against Hulk and Aleksandr Anyukov.
The Rossoneri warriors were justly rewarded for their incredible performances, representing both AC Milan and Serie A in impressive fashion.
