The midfielder is on loan, in his second spell with La Dea, and is expected to return to his parent club this summer.

However, Cigarini has told Atalanta that he would like to continue his stay for the near future.

“I hope that the club takes an important step forward for me,” Cigarini said.

The Bergamo outfit have a buy-option on the playmaker and could make him a permanent member of the squad.

In the past two season with the club, Cigarini has played 59 times, scoring three goals and adding six assists.

The Italian midfielder came through the youth team before moving to Atalanta the first time. He went on to Napoli were he featured 29 times, but Cigarini has spent much of the last few seasons on loan with La Liga side prior to his time at Atalanta.
