Top 10: Serie A Worst Players 2012/13
Since the early days of football, players have been ranked in two categories; bad or good.
In the 2012/13 Serie A season, there was definitely a fair share of poor performers in the league along with the bright stars.
The 10 worst starters are highlighted in another edition of the top 10 Forza Italian Football features.
Brace yourselves, because this category isn’t as pretty as the others!
After a fantastic debut campaign at AC Milan, Antonio Nocerino’s sophomore season didn’t fare very well. Ten goals in 35 games in Serie A was an impressive number, especially for a midfielder who very rarely scored (six at Piacenza is his next best total) is quite the accomplishment. However just two tallies in 2012/13 in 26 appearances is a drastic dwindle. Many say the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the key to Nocerino’s poor form, and it’s a fair point. Ibra assisted many of Nocerino’s goals and some even came off deflections. At the end of the day, Nocerino benefited from a little bit of luck and a world class striker.
Obviously goals aren’t the sole decider, but the rest of Nocerino’s play has been just as dire. His passing ability has declined, he’s a defensive liability, and is simply an average player. Milan would be smart to let him go because they can do so much better in that position.
