pinilla - cagliariFiorentina are considering a bid for Cagliari striker Mauricio Pinilla.

The Viola may have difficulty in landing the Chilean hitman, however, as Pinilla has stated he is happy to see out his contract with Cagliari.

According to Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Fiorentina will make a bid for the player to solidify their attack ahead of next season as the team will fight on there fronts – Coppa Italia, Serie A and Europa League.

The Viola may lose star Stevan Jovetic, but could land Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez.

Pinilla would be used as an option off the bench if both he and Gomez are signed, something that the striker was quite prolific at last season. However, Pinilla could be used more prominently if the German isn’t signed.

The player has spent much of his career as a journeyman after bursting on to the football world with Universidad Chile in 2002.

His 20 goals in 39 match with the Chilean club led to a move to Inter, but the striker never featured for the team. Pinilla’s most successful season in Italy came in 2009 with Serie B side Grosseto when he bagged 24 goals in 24 games. Pinilla tallied seven goals in 23 matches last term for the Sardinian side.
