De Rossi - Roma v udineseNewly appointed Roma coach Rudi Garcia has revealed that he’ll do whatever is necessary to keep Daniele De Rossi with the club.

De Rossi, who has spent his entire professional career with the Giallorossi, has been reportedly pondering a transfer abroad, and has even recently conceded that playing in Rome has caused him some stress.

Garcia spoke to reporters in his home country of France about his plans to keep the 29-year-old midfielder and also strengthen Roma’s squad.

“I will work hard to keep De Rossi,” said the former Lille tactician. “We will also have to work hard on the defensive side of the game.

“Last season Roma conceded far too many goals.

“Lille have some great players, so hopefully I can try to take some with me.

“I am working with Sabatini – we want to improve the squad and retain our best players.”

De Rossi started his senior career with the Lupi in 2001, after spending a year with their youth squad. The controversial vice-captain made 25 Serie A appearances for Roma this past season and had three assists, but no goals.
