gilardino - bolognaInter have upped their interest in Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino.

The striker, who returned to form while on loan last season at Bologna, is being offered to the Nerazzurri for €5 million, according to The Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter sporting director Marco Branca is uninterested in paying the requested transfer fee and hopes to swap a player for him instead.

Genoa are prepared to take a €3 million loss on the player who they bought from Fiorentina for €8m in January 2012.

After struggling through injury and form, Gilardino was allowed to go to Bologna last summer and helped the club to a mid-table finish scoring 13 goals in 36 games.

Inter are prepared to hijack Genoa’s attempt to sign Rolando Bianchi on a free transfer if they cannot get Genoa to agree to sell Gilardino.

Inter are willing to swap one of three players for the former AC Milan man. Genoa are already interested in a move for Ezequiel Schelotto, a player they have had tabs on for quite sometime, but  could take Joel Obi or Marco Benassi for Gilardino.
