Gervinho ArsenalThe long-rumoured move to take Ivorian forward Gervinho from Arsenal to Roma is set to be finalized this week.

The 26-year-old joined Arsenal from Lille for a fee in the region of €12.5 million but failed to make an impact at the Emirates and the Gunners seem keen on letting the former Lille man go.

According to gianlucadimarzio.com, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has been granted permission to schedule a meeting with the player’s representatives.

Sabatini is expected to head to London during the week in order to agree personal terms and sort out the few remaining details remaining with Arsenal.

It is thought that the transfer fee will be around €8m as the Giallorossi decided to compromise and raise their offer after the Gunners previously rejected an offer just below €7.2m.

Gervinho previously worked with new Roma coach Rudi Garcia during their time together at Lille where they won a Ligue 1 title in 2011.

Roll on his exit. I for one am sick of having a headless chicken and a weedy one at that in my club let alone the team. Another one of Wengers bad buys in recent years. The good buys e.g. Cazorla are exceptions these days.

I think he is still needed at the Emrites, though he might be lacking the ability to punch goals and maybe nervous in front of goal but Arsenal needs a great bench to compete for titles. Gervinho have some great skills n we still needs him. We should be talking about putting Diaby out rather then Gervinho.
