Leandro Castan - RomaChelsea are looking at signing Roma defender Leandro Castan, according to reports.

The defender, 26, broke into the capital club’s first team during last season and Roma would need to receive a fairly large bid to sell the defender after losing Marquinhos to PSG a week ago.

Tuttomercatoweb.com report that Chelsea see the Roma youngster as a viable replacement for David Luiz should Barcelona sign the Brazilian, who has been linked with a move away for some weeks.

Roma’s singing of Mehdi Benatia could mean that they’re happy to listen to bids for the defender, who played 13 times for Roma last season.

A rich club like Chelsea to sell a key player like David Luis then to start hunting the replacement that is not a good decision, it is just a confusion and frustration.

Benatia was a replacement for Marquinhos, not for both Marquinhos and Castan.
