Pizarro - FiorentinaFiorentina midfielder David Pizarro looks set to stay with the Florence based side after he retracted his transfer request and apologised to Viola fans for his actions at the end of last season.

Speaking at the Viola pre-season training base in Moena the 33-year-old indicated that his initial wish to leave Florence was their disappointing finish to the season and some controversial refereeing decisions helped deny they a Champions League place.

The Chile international insisted that the club will challenge for trophies next season, ‘unless something else happens’.

“I had a heeling moment at the end of the season, as it was over, but Florence and Fiorentina were always in my thoughts.” Pizarro told Tuttomercatoweb.

“It was very bad it finished [like it did] for the season.

“I’m sorry about what happened, but I’m not going away.

“What went wrong at the end of the season? Nothing, and just that like all the fans I was upset by what happened. I was very disappointed.

“We’ll challenge for trophies, unless something else happens.”
