Emanuele Giaccherini - Azzurri has said that this season has been the best of his career and has praised ’s third-place finish.

The squad returned home from Brazil on Monday following their penalty shoot-out victory over Uruguay in the third place play-off the day before.

“We are satisfied with third place, for us it was important to win the final game, after how it went wrong in the semi-finals,” Giaccherini told reporters.

When asked about Italy’s chances in the World Cup next year, the 28-year-old replied “We will try to win it, definitely.”

Although not a regular in the Juventus side which won the Scudetto this season, Giaccherini played in all five of Italy’s Confederations Cup matches and generally played well.

“Of course, this is the best moment of my career,” he stated.
