Maxime Gonalons LyonNapoli are considering buying Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons but the Partenopei have to sell Uruguayan international Walter Gargano first.

The Uruguayan midfielder is a target for Spanish club Atletico Madrid and English Premier League side Fulham. Once he leaves, then Napoli will go for the Frenchman.

According to TuttoNapoli.net, Gonalons has been in the Partenopei’s sights for a long time and coach Rafa Benitez would welcome the move.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has played six times for France, which is less than Gargano, who has won 56 caps for Uruguay.

Gargano played for Oscar Tabarez’s side at the FIFA Confederations Cup, which concluded on June 30, the same day his loan spell at Inter officially ended.

Although he has returned to Napoli, the coaching staff have said that he isn’t a part of their plans.

Aside from his loan spell at Inter last season, Gargano has been with Napoli since they were promoted from Serie B in 2007.
