Simone Zaza AscoliSimone Zaza’s agent has stated that the player’s move to Sassuolo was the right decision after his move to the club was completed last week.

Juventus recently bought the 22-year-old striker from Sampdoria for €3.5 million, but then sold him to the newly promoted Sassuolo for €2.5m in a co-ownership deal.

The player’s agent, Christian Maifredi, spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the reasons behind the youngster’s transfer and praised him for his potential.

“With Simone we have always made choices that would suit him,” said the agent.

“We made a decision that would mean he plays as much football as possible.

“He has a wonderful character – he’s calm and works really hard.

“I have between 20 and 25 players, but he is the jewel in the crown.”

Simone Zaza spent the 2012-13 campaign on loan at Ascoli, where he impressed many by scoring 18 goals in his 35 Serie B appearances for the club.

However, his goals weren’t enough to save the Picchio from relegation as the team finished the season in twentieth place.
