Valter Birsa TorinoAfter spending the 2012-13 season on loan with Torino it is looking unlikely that Genoa midfielder Valter Birsa will return to the Granata this summer.

The 26-year-old is still a target for the Turin club but after making just 14 Serie A appearances last term they seem unsure whether to proceed with a deal for the Rossoblu man.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Slovenians annual salary of around €900,000 is also a potential stumbling block as Genoa had contributed to this during his spell with Torino last season but the clubs are trying to find a solution.

However, Torino are not the only side interested in his services with Spanish side Real Betis and Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt expressing an interest in Birsa.

The Slovenia international will now assess the opportunities presented although it is thought that Spain is not his preferred destination and he is keeping one eye on negotiations with Il Toro.
