Walter Sabatini RomaRoma are threatening to take legal action against a radio station which broadcast a private conversation between the club’s directors about transfers.

The conversation between sporting director Walter Sabatini and general manager Claudio Fenucci was reportedly recorded by asromaradio.it because one of the two men had forgotten to hang up the phone following an interview with the station.

“AS Roma has learned that private conversations between its directors appear to have been illegally wiretapped,” read a statement from the club.

“AS Roma notes that any use of illegal wiretapping constitutes a criminal offence. Accordingly, the club cautions anybody against using said wiretaps and informs from the outset that it will carry out all possible actions against the offenders.”

In response, asromaradio.it have released a statement and threatened legal action of their own against Roma.

“If a director leaves his phone on after a conversation and we hear him when he’s talking to someone else, it is certainly not our fault,” read the statement.

The content of the private conversation may be very revealing to Giallorossi and football fans, as well as clubs interested in Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, Marquinhos and Daniele De Rossi.

In the conversation, Sabatini and Fenucci revealed that Marquinhos, who is being monitored by Barcelona, would be sold if the Catalan club offered €25 million and paid commission to his agents.

They also noted that De Rossi, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, would be able to leave for the right price.

Perhaps the most intriguing revelation of all is that Sabatini told Fenucci that he had instructed wantaway striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, who is currently on holiday in Chicago, to start pre-season training with his teammates on Tuesday.

This is because, as the sporting director explained, he wanted Osvaldo to receive the same insults that other Giallorossi players had suffered from the fans on that day.

The abuse, according to Sabatini, may have pushed Osvaldo towards accepting a €20m transfer to Southampton.
