Mauro ZarateMauro Zarate’s move to Velez Sarsfield has been blocked after Lazio saw their appeal in arbitration won, blocking the Argentine’s transfer.

The 26-year-old had announced that his contract with the Biancocelesti had been resolved on the grounds of mobbing, allowing him to break his contract with the Italian side.

However Lazio took the case to an arbitration court, stating that Zarate was still contractually obligated to the capital club, and saw their appeal accepted on Monday.

“They condemned the player to pay the €10,000 fees,” lawyer Gian Michele Gentile told lalaziosiamonoi.it.

“Zarate must therefore return to Lazio. We will see if he returns.”

Zarate made only seven appearances for the capital club last season, scoring one goal in the Europa League.
