AC Milan prepared to wait for Honda
The 27-year-old is in the final six months of his contract at the Russian club and will be available on a free transfer in January, but the Rossoneri are trying to convince CSKA to sell their Japanese international before the transfer window closes on September 2.
After weeks of silence, the player himself spoke to Nikkan Sports about his impending move to Milan.
“There was a short meeting between the two club presidents, in which all the details were ironed out,” he said.
“The transfer fee should be €5 million.
“I’d just like to add that I haven’t agreed to a pay-cut in order to make the move.”
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani also shared his thoughts on the much-publicised transfer saga.
“Honda will arrive in January, but it would be good if they want to give him to us sooner,” he stated.
“If that doesn’t happen then we will wait.”
Japanese International Honda has scored 20 goals in 80 appearances for the Russian capital side since moving from Dutch club VVV-Venlo in 2010.
