AC Milan striker looking forward to meeting Pope
The match will be played on August 14 to celebrate the new Argentine Pope who is known to be a football fan, and the 23-year-old spoke of what the encounter means to him.
“What are my emotions ahead of the meeting with the Pope? I’ll tell them to him,” said Balotelli to Sky Sport.
“For me it’s [the meeting] no more emotional than a match, but religion is important to a believer, as much for a footballer as it is for an ordinary person.
Balotelli was also asked whether he hopes the Pope will wish him a happy birthday as the Italian celebrated his 23rd birthday on Monday.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to meet him, I hope he wishes me a happy birthday.
“But it will be my parents who will give me the most beautiful present.”
