Bundesliga interest in unwanted Napoli defender
Surplus to requirements at Napoli, centre-back Federico Fernandez looks set to depart Serie A as Bundesliga clubs Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen express their interest in the Argentinean international.
After returning from a short loan spell with La Liga side Getafe last season new coach Rafael Benitez has made it clear that the 24-year-old is not part of his future plans and the club are seeking buyers for the defender.
Despite the offers from Germany his Italian career may not be over with Il Mattino also reported that Catania are showing an interest in the defender and have suggested that the Sicilian club would be his preferred destination.
After joining the Naples club in 2011 for €3 million from Estudiantes in his homeland Fernandez has struggled to secure a first-team place and made just two Serie A appearances last term before leaving for Spain where he helped Getafe to a 10th place finish.
