Cagliari star set for Napoli switch
Despite rumours linking the defender to a number of clubs over the summer, both in Italy and abroad, it is all but certain he will join the Partenopei before the start of the season.
Sky Sports Italia report that a deal of around €13 million has been struck between the two clubs, with Cagliari set to earn add-ons related to the 26-year-old’s performance for the Azzurri when the transfer goes through.
Napoli have been long-term suitors for the international defender but had never been able to agree a deal with the Rossoblu to bring the AC Milan youth product to the Stadio San Paolo.
After leaving Milan without playing a first-team game for the Rossoneri, Astori joined the Isolani in 2008, and has gone on to make a hundred and forty appearances for the club.
While playing for Cagliari he has forced himself into Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad in recent years, making five appearances for the national side, and scored his first goal for his country this summer in the Confederations Cup.
