Cannavaro’s agent infuriated with Napoli over contract
Cannavaro, 32, is currently in his seventh consecutive season with the Partenopei and still has two years left on his current deal.
The player, and his World Cup-winning brother Fabio, have recently made it known that they are not happy with the relationship between his role at Napoli and the current contract terms he is receiving.
Cannavaro’s agent, Gaetano Fedele, has now also revealed his anger and believes the club are trying push the 32-year old down the same road as Hugo Campagnaro.
“Paolo always does his job and despite that is always criticised,” said Fedele speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss.
“He doesn’t want to be treated differently to the other players just because he is the captain, but the other protagonists of the season who did well saw their contracts improved and he hasn’t.
“I get the feeling they are trying to see out his contract, the way they did with Campagnaro. Except in that situation Campagnaro couldn’t reach a financial deal with the directors, whereas Cannavaro has always said he’s not worried about money.
“He wants to end his career with Napoli.”
Fedele did add that his client is not looking for a quick-fix solution to the situation.
“There is time to discuss it and the club has other priorities right now, but I firmly hope that the issue can be resolved this year.”
