Giannichedda likens Udinese’s Guidolin to Manchester United legend
Giannichedda was being interviewed about the Zebrette’s upcoming game against Lazio in the opening weekend of the season. The 38-year-old played for both clubs, as well as Juventus and Livorno, during his career.
“Udinese have a perfect mechanism with Guidolin at the helm, who I truly consider to be the Italian Ferguson due to the expertise and wisdom with which he goes about his job,” he told Radio Manà Sport.
Giannichedda also had warm praise for Lazio, the Udine side’s opponents on Sunday, and emphasised the quality in their midfield, with Cristian Ledesma partnered by new arrival Lucas Biglia.
“Ledesma and Biglia are two great players. They can co-exist, having a lot of experience as well as strong personalities.
“What’s vital for them is that their teammates move around them perfectly, with just the right timing and space.”
However, Giannichedda warned Biancocelesti coach Vladimir Petkovic that he should be more tactically flexible, in light of the club’s 4-0 defeat to Juventus in the Italian Super Cup last Sunday.
“Petkovic has to look at alternatives to 4-4-1-1 to vary the game plan, something that was lacking during the Super Cup against Juventus.”
