Hellas Verona striker to be handed shock Azzurri recall
Reports in Italy are suggesting that Italian coach Cesare Prandelli is considering recalling Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers after four years in the international wilderness.
With fellow strikers Pablo Osvaldo and Mario Balotelli suspended for their first clash with Bulgaria on September 6, Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that whilst the former Fiorentina man return to the squad it uncertain whether he would fill the void left by their absence.
After the match with the Bulgarians the Azzurri will face another crucial test against third placed Czech Republic on September 10 as they look to secure their passage to Brazil.
During his pervious stint with the Italian national side Toni scored 16 goals in 47 appearances and was part of the squad that won the World Cup in 2006.
