Juventus loan starlet to La Liga outfit
Juventus striker Richmond Boakye has officially moved from Turin to newly promoted Elche in Spain on a year long loan as a means of bolstering the Franjiverdes’ attack ahead of their first season in La Liga in 25 years.
The 20-year-old, co-owned by Juventus and Genoa, spent last season with Sassuolo in Serie B, helping the Emilian club gain promotion to the top flight for the first time in its history, scoring 11 goals in 32 matches.
Originally a product of Genoa’s youth system, Juventus bought half of Boakye’s contract in July 2012 for €4 million after an impressive season on loan at Sassuolo, where he was sent to again the following year.
Boakye was not expected to see much playing time with either the Bianconeri or the Grifoni this season, and a loan move to a first division club with ample playing time was always on the cards this summer.
