Juventus reject massive Real Madrid bid for midfield starlet
The 20-year-old Frenchman has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Bianconeri career since his move from Manchester United last summer, and his consistently high level of performance has recently led to interest from a number of prominent European clubs, including the Spanish giants.
However, the Serie A champions insist the midfielder is not for sale. They have instead committed to offering Pogba a contract extension which could see the youngster’s wage increase by as much as 66%, according to reports in the French media.
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, recently commented on the Real Madrid link, suggesting Los Merengues would have to pay a world record fee to prise the Under-20 World Cup winner away from Turin.
“If [Gareth] Bale is worth €100m, then [Mario] Balotelli and Pogba are worth twice as much,” he told Sky Sports.
“With all respect for Bale, Pogba is better.
“[Real Madrid president Florentino] Perez has set Pogba’s price by buying Bale.
“Let’s be clear, it’s not me valuing him, it’s Real Madrid and the laws of the transfer market which dictate that Pogba is then worth €200m.”
Real Madrid and Juventus were drawn together in Group B of the Champions League group stages on Thursday, along with Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen.
