Juventus to offer midfielder contract extension to end Real Madrid interest
The talented 20-year-old midfielder enjoyed somewhat of a breakout year in 2012/13, and has continued his rich vein of form into the current season, playing a key role in Juventus’ 4-0 Supercoppa Italiana victory over Lazio.
Tuttosport reports that negotiations over a renewal have been ongoing since April, but as time has passed, the player has gradually increased his wage demands.
Initially the youngster was asking for €2.5 million, a figure which has now risen to €4m. While this is the request made by super-agent Raiola, Bianconeri sporting director Giuseppe Marotta is offering less but with performance related bonuses included.
However, Juventus don’t want to find themselves unprepared in the face of an approach from Los Blancos and are trying to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible to ward off interest from overseas clubs.
Pogba, who Raiola recently declared to be worth ‘twice as much’ as Gareth Bale, currently has six goals in 40 appearances for the Old Lady after joining on a Bosman free transfer last summer from Manchester United.
