Lazio captain suspended for six-months for match-fixing

Stefano Mauri - LazioLazio captain Stefano Mauri has been banned for six months in the latest round of Calcioscommesse verdicts.

The ban relates to match-fixing in the matches played against Genoa on May 14, 2011, and Lecce on May 22 of the same year.

Stefano Ferrario was also given a six-month ban, Carlo Gervasoni handed two months, Mario Cassano received a four-month penalty, and Alessandro Zamperini was presented with a two-year suspension.

Meanwhile Lazio have also been fined €40,000.

Prosecutor Stefano Palazzi had wanted Mauro banned for four-and-a-half years with the three clubs involved all to receive points deductions.

Elsewhere in the case Omar Milanetto, Massimiliano Benassi and Antonio Rosati have all been cleared of the match-fixing allegations made against them.
