Alessandro Florenzi Francesco Totti RomaRoma defeated Livorno 2-0 at the Armando Picchi on Sunday evening in Serie A.

Second half goals from Alessandro Florenzi and Daniele De Rossi ensured that the Giallorossi took all three points back to the capital.

Roma controlled the early going, dominating possession and biding their time to find an opening in the Amaranto defence. As a resilient Livorno held Roma at bay, Maicon would try his luck from range but would see his attempt sail wide.

Francesco Totti, looking keen to kick start his goal tally for the season, would then test Bardi from distance. The 36-year-old’s drive from distance clipping the cross bar on its way over.

For all the control that Rudi Garcia’s side had seen, they had failed to really carve out any golden opportunities and the half ended goalless.

Roma came out firing in the second half and managed to open up the Livorno defence as Florenzi went close. De Rossi played the ball into the path of the 22-year-old who struck it well bringing the best from Bardi. The Livorno stopper was quick to pounce on the rebound as Marco Borriello lurked.

Totti was involved again feeding Florenzi who cannoned a shot off the post further infuriating Roma.

This patience would soon be rewarded for the visitors as De Rossi fired a thunderbolt past the sprawling Bardi from 20 yards out, to score the Giallorossi’s first goal of the 2013-14 campaign.

Within moments Roma would double their lead as Florenzi would clinically dispatch a long ball forward from Leandro Castan. An equally impressive finish as De Rossi’s, Florenzi drilled the ball across goal giving Bardi no chance.

Garcia’s side held out for victory as the French coach had guided his side to victory on his debut in Serie A.
