Napoli coach targets further signings
After having already splashed the cash to lure Gonzalo Higuain and Dries Mertens to the San Paolo, Spanish technician Benitez doesn’t want to stop there, with several more high-profile names being paired with the club.
According to Il Mattino, Benitez and Bigon have met to discuss the Partenopei’s main transfer targets with the Spaniard’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation in mind.
One player linked is Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa, while the dream for Benitez is another Spanish-based player, former charge Javier Mascherano of Barcelona. However the Blaugrana are keen to hold onto the Argentine holding midfielder turned defender who has demonstrated such versatility.
Upfront, where Napoli are already well stocked, Benitez is looking to add one more striker to his roster, with Mirko Vucinic and Alessandro Matri, reported to be surplus to requirements at Juventus, and Pablo Osvaldo of Roma all under consideration.
The priority is however the signing of a new defender, and while the club are close to signing Slovakian Martin Skrtel from Liverpool on loan, they will then concentrate their efforts on signing a new centre midfielder and a backup striker.
