Napoli consider swoop for Barcelona defender
The player, 22, has struggled to break into the Barcelona first team with Brazilian international Dani Alves making Montoya’s preferred right back slot his own.
Il Mattino report that the player could decide not to renew his contract which expires in 2014. The La Liga champions may decide to sell the player now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Rafael Benitez would like the player to join him at Napoli as he looks to build his new look side. Inter are also credited with having an interest in the player although their recent capture of fellow defender Wallace on loan from Chelsea may see that diminish.
Montoya has represented Spain at youth level winning the Under 21 European Championships in 2011 and 2013. He has also been involved in the full national side.
