Napoli defender insists he never wanted to leave amid talk of contract renewal
Napoli defender Juan Camilo Zuniga has continued his reconciliation with the club’s fans by claiming that he never wanted to leave the Partenopei, quelling reports linking him with a move to rivals Juventus.
The Bianconeri have been closely linked with a move for the wing-man all summer, with a swap deal involving Alessandro Matri even being reported in order to lure the player to Turin.
However, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 27-year-old Colombian international rubbished reports of an exit.
“‘I never said I wanted to leave Napoli because I feel good here,” he stated.
Zuniga’s contract runs out in 2014, but he is calm about his situation in Naples, insisting that a solution will be found quickly regarding a contract renewal.
The experienced wingback has been at the Stadio San Paolo since making the move from Siena in 2009 and so far has four goals in 110 appearances for the club.
