Peter Odemwingie - WBANapoli coach Rafa Benitez is being linked with a move for West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie as his search for a backup striker continues.

The Azzurri’s favoured candidate for the role is Porto’s Jackson Martinez, with the club still waiting on Juventus’ Italian international Alessandro Matri, but now experienced campaigner Odemwingie has emerged as another option.

The 32-year-old Nigerian represents a much cheaper alternative, with the Daily Mirror reporting that an offer of around €1.5 million should be enough to prize him away from the Hawthorns.

However, Napoli will have to contend with Queens Park Rangers for the player’s signature with the Championship club pressing hard for a deal to go through.

Odemwingie moved to West Brom from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in 2010 and has 31 goals in 89 appearances for the Baggies.
