Martin Skrtel - LiverpoolNapoli are close to agreeing a deal to bring Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel to the San Paolo.

The Slovakian central defender has been a prime target for Rafael Benitez’s man in recent weeks and they now seem close to wrapping up the move for the player.

According to Il Mattino there is now an agreement between the clubs and the deal is as good as done and dusted although they did not disclose any details regarding the transfer.

He will likely partner fellow new recruit Raul Albiol at the centre of the Vesuviani defence next season should the deal be confirmed.

Skrtel is a former player under Benitez during his time at Anfield and is also a close friend of Marek Hamsik from their time together with the international side.
