Napoli ready €14 million offer for Lyon midfielder
Rafael Benitez had already tried earlier this summer to bring in the Frenchman but was rebuffed by the club.
Le10Sport reported that Napoli had made an initial loan offer with option to buy for the services of Gonalons, but Lyon rejected it, however, TuttoNapoli.net reports that Aurelio De Laurentiis is readying a bid of €14 million for the Lyon captain.
Napoli are looking to take advantage of Lyon’s precarious situation in Champions League in order to prize away the French midfielder.
Lyon lost 2-0 against Real Sociedad and now must travel to Spain to attempt to overturn the result as missing Champions League group stage would be problematic given the French club’s difficult financial situation.
Gonalons is a defensive midfielder and has become one of the cadres of the team recently, especially since Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, has been culling the wage bill.
