Palermo place deadline on goalkeeper regarding possible move
The Viola are looking for a new starting goalkeeper after letting Emiliano Viviano leave the club earlier in the summer, while Neto has struggled in pre-season friendlies.
“I’ve been reading the links between Fiorentina and Sorrentino in the newspapers, but, as it stands, they haven’t been in touch,” president Maurizio Zamparini told Viola News.
“If they don’t make themselves heard this week then a deal won’t be done as we will need time to find a replacement.
“Sorrentino is an excellent goalkeeper, but he is available for transfer. We are open to anything, but, after a certain date, we won’t consider any offers.”
The shot-stopper moved to the Stadio Renzo Barbera in January to help with their survival battle, but he was unable to stop the club from dropping to Serie B.
Before his move to Palermo, Sorrentino spent five seasons at Chievo where he made 165 appearances for the Flying Donkeys.
