Sampdoria keeper set for Monaco
Romero enjoyed two solid seasons in Genoa after joining from AZ Alkmaar in 2011 for €3.5 million, first in Serie B helping them gain promotion, and then last season in Serie A helping the Blucerchiati avoid relegation.
L’Equipe have reported that the Argentine international will join Monaco on loan with the option to purchase his contract fully at the end of the season for around €5m, as per other reports in France.
Romero is now Monaco’s 12th signing of the summer, joining the likes of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, and Jeremy Toulalan in the side.
Sampdoria meanwhile will need to replace Romero soon with the start of the new Serie A season coming up next week, with Italian media touting Palermo’s Stefano Sorrentino and Siena shot-stopper Gianluca Pegolo as potential replacements.
