Sassuolo reignite interest in South American striker
This comes in spite of a slowdown in talks in recent days between last season’s Serie B champions and the player’s current club, Argentine side Estudiantes.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the lack of action regarding Zapata’s transfer stems from the transfer fee demanded by the Argentine club.
It is also reported that interest in the Colombian striker from Queens Park Rangers’ manager Harry Redknapp has caused transfers talks between Sassuolo and the Argentinian club to come to a standstill.
However, amidst new interest from England, the 22 year-old may find a move to the UK impossible. It is unlikely that the youngster will be able to obtain a work permit required for him to play in the English Premier League.
These proceedings have left Sassuolo as the only likely suitors for Zapata, and have forced Estudiantes to seriously consider the offer proposed by the Emilian club.
