Slovan Liberec 1-1 Udinese: Friulani eliminated during qualifying for third year running
Ivan Kelava was called into action in the 16th minute and made a great reaction save on Serhiy Rybalka after a miscue from Thomas Heurtaux.
However things got even more difficult for the Italians in the 22nd minute when Slovan Liberec took the lead when Delarge broke away from a defender on a throw-in and was able to beat Kelava from inside the six yards box.
With Udinese now behind 4-1 aggregate Di Natale tried to fight back but was only able to skim the crossbar in the 24th minute.
Lazzari was able to level the score on the night in the 41st minute when the Friulani took advantage of a lost Slovan ball on the edge of box, before Muriel dribbled past two and dishing off to the Italian who sent his curling effort into the back of the net.
The second half kicked off in cagey fashion but any chance of the Zebrette overturning their aggregate deficit were dashed in the 71st minute when they were reduced to ten men. Pereyra was handed his second yellow card of the night after reacting to a shove from an opposition player, though replays showed the booking was a bit harsh.
With little left to play for Francesco Guidolin handed Roma-owned Nico Lopez his Udinese debut in the 80th minute. The Uruguayan had a great chance to peg one back only two minutes after his introduction, but he was not able to control the ball amongst a group of Slovan Liberec defenders in the box.
Maicosuel came close to giving the Italians the victory on the night in the 88th minute but his right-footed effort was expertly saved by P?emysl Ková? who stopped the Brazilian’s effort from going into the top corner.
