Sunderland in pursuit of another Italian import
Coach Paolo Di Canio has already signed Italians Emanuele Giaccherini and Vito Mannone from Juventus and Arsenal respectively, and have also been linked to Giaccherini’s former teammates in Turin, Fabio Quagliarella and Alessandro Matri.
Now, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, Sunderland have put in a €3 million offer to Lazio for the 31-year-old Floccari.
The Lazio striker featured 36 times last year as a deputy for starter Miroslav Klose, scoring 10 times and providing seven assists.
However, only half of his league appearances cam as a starter, and in the Europa League Libor Kozak was usually favoured ahead of the former Genoa and Parma man.
Should Floccari leave the Stadio Olimpico, the Biancocelesti would have the young trio of Kozak, youth team graduate Antonio Rozzi, and new signing Brayan Perea backing up Klose.
Floccari’s current deal with Lazio expires at the end of the season.
