Federico Balzaretti - RomaRoma’s Federico Balzaretti looks to have drawn the interest of Tottenham as a candidate to reinforce their defense, given recent departures of Steven Caulker and William Gallas.

Previously, it was thought that Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao would come to Tottenham as part of the deal to bring Gareth Bale to the Bernabeu: this is no longer believed to be the case.

According to the Sunday Times, Tottenham want a straight cash deal and have rejected any prospect of including Coentrao in the deal.

It is suggested that Tottenham’s director of football Franco Baldini is looking to bring Balzaretti to the team on loan instead of accepting Coentrao as part of the Bale agreement.

Balzaretti made 27 Serie A appearances for Roma last season.
