Udinese ace being tracked by Manchester United
With new manager David Moyes reportedly known to be a long time admirer of the Colombian, the English champions are preparing to make a bid should Rooney move on over the summer.
English newspaper The Metro report that United’s chief scout Robbie Cooke is particularly keen on the versatile 22-year-old, who would be expected to draw a fee of around €21 million.
Muriel came to prominence last season with the Zebrette as he scored 11 goals in only 22 Serie A appearances.
He has already started this campaign spectacularly, scoring two goals in the Bianconeri’s Europa League victory over Siroki Brijeg, a performance which was watched by scouts from both Liverpool and Barcelona.
Having arrived at the Stadio Friuli from Deportivo Cali in 2010, Muriel was sent on loan spells to both Granada and Lecce before being promoted into the Zebrette’s first team in the summer of 2012.
At the end of his first season with the club, the Santa Fruto born speedster was voted joint Serie A Young Footballer of the Year, an award he shared with Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy.
