After their 2-1 defeat by Napoli on Sunday night AC Milan full-back Ignazio Abate insisted that the team had very little to apologise for despite accusations that the Rossoneri defence has been the cause of their poor early season form.

However, the 26-year-old believed that other than the opening minutes of Sundays encounter the team had produced one of its best performances of the season and any deficiencies of the side must be accepted as a team and not only the defensive quartet.

“The four of us in defence, we have little to complain about, as well as the rest of the team,” Abate told Mediaset.

“Remove the first five minutes and we played the best first half of our season.

“We have problems, but they are the team’s problems. In most situations could attack most of the spaces.

“If we keep saying that the four at the back are poor, okay, so we lose every Sunday in the matches we attempt to win, but in Italy these matches simply do not exist.”
