Astori - CagliariAC Milan could make a last ditch attempt at signing Davide Astori from Cagliari in the final hours of the transfer market.

The 26 year-old was recently linked with a move to Roma but Milan are now looking to pounce.

According to Tuttomercatoweb the Rossoneri are looking to make Astori their final transfer this summer.

The defender began his career with Milan’s youth academy and has alluded in the past to returning to the San Siro.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani also has an excellent relationship with Cagliari president Massimo Cellino.

Massimiliano Allegri coached Astori during his Cagliari tenure and is rumoured to have requested the player be signed.

The Italian international would still be a costly operation as the Sardinian’s want at least €10 million.

The player was left out of Milan’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari allegedly due to market pressure and a niggling injury.

Astori has been capped five times for Italy and will be looking to secure a place for the 2015 World Cup in Brazil.
