Arsenal had bid for Udinese star rejected
The Gunners smashed their transfer record on Monday’s deadline day with a €50 million deal for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil, but it appears the London based club were looking to bring in more reinforcements.
Reports in Italy suggest the London-based club also submitted a bid – believed to be in the region of €7m – for the 35-year-old.
However, given that the timing of the bid was after the Italian transfer window had shut, the Zebrette could not have brought in any replacement for their talisman and the bid was subsequently rejected.
Di Natale, who agreed a contract extension until 2016 with Udinese earlier this summer, recently admitted he has not lost hope of returning to the Azzurri squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
