Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has confirmed that the injury he suffered during his side’s Champions League defeat against Napoli is not serious.
The 24-year-old German international was taken off in first half injury time during the group F opener at the Stadio San Paolo after sustaining a back problem.
The match saw the Azzurri run out 2-1 winners with goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain enough to seal all three points for the home side despite a late own goal from Juan Camilo Zuniga.
“I received a blow to my back, on the sciatic nerve,” Hummels told SkySports Deutschland.
“I can still feel a lot of pain, but I don’t think it’s anything serious.”
The next round of group games see Dortmund playing host to Ligue 1 club Marseille and Napoli traveling to London to face Premier League giants Arsenal on October 1.
