Cassetti: Totti should be considered for Italy’s World Cup squad
The 36-year-old called an end to his international career after the Azzurri lifted world football’s greatest prize in 2006, but with national team coach Cesare Prandelli insisting that he is open to every possibility in terms of player selection, Totti could be set for a shock recall to the Italy squad.
“The pitch speaks for itself,” Cassetti told Radio Mana sport.
“If I were Prandelli, I would call him, without however forgetting who played in the qualifying stages for the competition in Brazil.
“If Francesco gets to the end of the championship in good condition, he has to be called up: have you seen what kind of level he is still playing at?”
Totti made his senior debut for the Lupi in the 1992/93 season, and has gone on to score 282 goals in 680 appearances thus far for the Lupi.
