Catania defender had no interest in Tottenham Hotspur move
Argentinean defender Nicolas Spolli has insisted he had no intention of leaving Catania during the transfer window even before Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur expressed their interesting in him.
The 30-year-old centre-back reiterated that he had told president Antonino Pulvirenti of his desire to remain with the Elefanti before stating that the Sicilian city played a part in his decision to stay.
“I had told the president that I wanted to remain in Catania as soon as last season came to a close, before there was any talk of transfers,” Spolli told La Sicilia.
“When the interest from Tottenham came in, the club didn’t even need to ask me, because they knew what my intentions were.
“Now you know how things went. Part is, therefore, well away from the time when the market was in full swing.
“I am happy in Catania, it’s a wonderful city and when I have the time it’s incredible to enjoy both the sea and Mount Etna.”
