Gervinho RomaRoma forward Gervinho has claimed that his summer move to the Stadio Olimpico was a result of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s lack of trust in him.

The 26-year-old left North London to join the Giallorossi last month in a deal worth around €9.5 million after what was a largely disappointing spell in the Premier League.

Gervinho scored just 11 goals in 63 appearances for the Gunners, but claims that part of the reason he didn’t replicate the form he showed at Lille was because Wenger continually played him out of position.

“I wasn’t playing the best football, and with [Arsene] Wenger I wasn’t growing,” Gervinho told Sun Sport.

“I wasn’t happy with him, he made me play as a winger. He should have had more trust in me.”

The Ivorian striker moved to Arsenal from Lille in 2011 after impressing for the Ligue 1 club, and has now been reunited with former coach Rudi Garcia who he worked with during his time in France.

  2. get real…you werent happy ..what abt us the one that feed the so called professional players. With the exorbitant amount of wages you guys are getting week in week out, we expected better from so called pros..the minute you are on the pitch you are expected to perform..you are the ones who is treading on the grass not the manager. Which position he wanted to play..if he is good enough he can play his way from our goal line and all the way to the opposition and score with a back heel n also defend our goal all the way from opposition’s goal to ours…then only he come and tell us wenger put him in wrong position …

  3. I think something about your inability to connect your foot to the ball and score a goal from 2 metres that could have given Arsenal a shot at a trophy last year may have caused that mistrust..
