Fiorentina captain may wear protective head gear
The left back sustained a horrific gash across his forehead challenging for an aerial ball during Italy’s 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Turin on Tuesday evening, a result that saw the Azzurri qualify for next year’s World Cup with two games to spare.
The head wound required several stitches but the resulting injury was not deemed to be serious, with the only issue being the possible reopening of the affected area should Pasqual return to full training and match participation.
To avoid a repeat the Viola captain may have to wear a protective cap similar to those made famous by Petr Cech and Christian Chivu – though both those cases where due to a skull fracture.
Pasqual appeared 38 times for the Viola last season, scoring twice.
