Ex-AC Milan and Barcelona wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta has criticised the Rossoneri for the manner in which they let former captain Massimo Ambrosini leave the club during the summer.
The 36-year-old midfielder was released to Serie A rivals Fiorentina during the transfer window after 17 hugely successful years with the club in which he won four Scudetti, two Champions League winners medals and a Coppa Italia among numerous accolades.
However, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, World Cup-winner Zambrotta stated that he felt Ambrosini didn’t deserve to leave Via Turati after so many years of loyal service.
“Some decisions, like that made in [Massimo] Ambrosini’s case, I don’t agree with,” Zambrotta stated.
“Massimo wasn’t given the trust which he deserved.”
Cesena youth product Ambrosini scored a total of 36 goals in 489 appearances for the Rossoneri from 1995 to 2013.
