Massimiliano Allegri - AC MilanFormer AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso feels that Massimiliano Allegri would make a good coach for the Italian national squad.

The current Rossoneri bossrecently admitted that he would like to coach the Azzurri sometime in the future, and with current boss Cesare Prandelli rumoured to be stepping down after the 2014 World Cup, he may see his wish realized sooner rather than later.

Gattuso, who played under the tactician for two seasons, believes that he’d be a good candidate for the position while mentioning his own ambitions for the post in the future.

“Leading Italy is a huge responsibility, but Allegri has shown that he’s a very good tactician and has the capability to succeed,” the current Palermo boss stated to Sky Sport Italia.

“I believe that he will do very well in that role if given the chance.

“[As for me], of course I’d like to coach the national team at some point. I spent over ten years in the Azzurri jersey and I’d like to experience that atmosphere again.

“But I have a long way to go, so right now I’m focused on helping Palermo back into Serie A.”
